“How often should I use an exfoliator and how often and when is it best to use a mask?”
Although everyone’s skin is different, the rules are pretty much the same.
It is good to exfoliate your face, neck and decolletage twice a week to remove dead skin cells. Anymore than that would be too much stimulation and the skin would go into panic mode and start to secrete too much oil to make repairs, leaving you with constantly oily skin.
A mask should be applied at least once a week and should be used on one of the days that you exfoliate, straight after the exfoliation.
You don’t want to put a hydrating mask onto dead skin cells! After you have exfoliated your skin, you’ve removed any dead cells that impair the penetration so using something to moisturise those new skin cells and plump them up works a treat.
The skins resting stage is during the night so the best time to utilise these products is just before bed as they will have hours to do amazing things.
Next time you are in for a facial, why not chat to your therapists about what’s available that will be perfectly suitable for your skin type?
